Shlump Robinsonville Concert reviews
Concessions are a FAIL at new First Turn Stands
We have been attending Churchill during Derby Week for a long time. The disorganization and actual chaos we saw on Thurby, especially regarding the delivery of food and drinks, truly surprised us. Instead of the unlimited buffet offered in previous years with temporary stands in this area, Churchill switched to a fast-food delivery system, requiring each plate of food to be individually hand-delivered. Lines became so long that they extended into the seating area, creating dangerously crowded spaces.
The food was also cold. The individuals distributing it were not Churchill Downs employees but rather volunteers. The layout of the concession area, with drink lines on both ends, prevented a smooth flow of people. It is hard to fathom how much worse it might have been on Oaks and Derby days!
This was a significant mistake, but the issues did not stop there. Video monitors were either difficult to see or nonexistent. Additionally, there were no video monitors in areas where attendees had to miss races just to reach the front of food or drink lines.
The new stadium is generally impressive. However, we urge Churchill to address and revamp this unacceptable concession delivery system. Alternatively, they could consider eliminating the food and drink package altogether, a decision that might lead us to reconsider attending next year after years of loyal patronage.
The fast-food stands had extremely poor organization.
